The Charleston District, USACE awarded the contract for construction services to correct the water infiltration problem at the over 100,000 sq. ft Naval Health Clinic Charleston and to replace the existing failed exterior enclosure with a new exterior enclosure system in 9 Phases (using infectious control procedures). The building housed both the Naval Clinic and Veterans Affairs Clinic. The building will remain occupied and functional throughout the duration of construction.
Design and construction of temporary (modular) swing space trailers were included to accommodate 40 NHCC personnel, 20 offices/exam rooms with sinks in all exam rooms, a waiting/reception area and toilet facilities, and a separate trailer to accommodate the USACE’s QA and COR.
Work included the mold remediation of the exterior wall system. The exterior wall system included brick, cement plaster (stucco), windows/storefronts, exterior door & frame, backup wall system and of the existing one-story flat roof and removal of roof system to structural metal deck.
Other scope included mechanical, electrical, structural sandblasting, EIFS, ATFP storefront windows, mass notification, roofing, modular construction, drywall, painting, flooring, infectious control, temporary barriers and more.
